David Wood and Dave Bender founded Wood & Bender LLP in 1997 on the premise that corporations, large non-profit institutions and public entities faced increased risks from multiple sources, while concurrently, insurance carriers had grown more and more reluctant to assist these entities in managing risk. Wood & Bender has grown to become one of America's leading law firms in the practice of insurance policy enforcement.
Before founding the firm, David Wood and Dave Bender were partners with well-known national law firms. Attorney Wood began his practice investigating Savings and Loan failures and representing clients in insurance disputes. He has extensive experience in the interpretation of business insurance policies. Attorney Bender's initial practice concerned the defense of white-collar criminal cases and related civil litigation as well as complicated business litigation matters. For the last 15 years, Bender's practice has been devoted to complex business litigation and obtaining insurance coverage for all types of organizations. Their experiences have given them a unique understanding of how to optimize existing claims as well as assist clients in achieving the full value of their insurance coverage.
