Commercial Insurance Coverage Matters

Mr. Kiburtz has extensive experience handling commercial coverage disputes, and has represented technology companies, health care companies, banks, and other businesses in disputes involving coverage under directors and officers' liability policies, professional liability policies and commercial general liability policies for a broad variety of underlying matters such as securities suits, alleged fraud, government investigations, patent infringement, unfair competition, wrongful termination, contract disputes, torts, and employee compensation disputes. He has also handled numerous coverage disputes involving claims made under financial institution bonds for employee dishonesty, forgeries and fraudulent loans.

Construction Industry Coverage Matters

Mr. Kiburtz has extensive experience handling coverage disputes involving the construction industry, and has represented some of the largest construction firms in the world. These coverage disputes typically involve large commercial projects, multi-party complex litigation and coverage under numerous policies. He has particular expertise in securing "additional insured" coverage for general contractors under their subcontractors' insurance policies.

Background

From 2001 through 2004, Mr. Kiburtz worked for the Liquidator of Amwest Surety Insurance Company, where he handled a broad variety of matters related to insolvency and surety law.

Education

Mr. Kiburtz received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, with an emphasis in taxation. He also holds degrees in Exercise Physiology and Chemistry from the University of Utah.
